BUYING A HOME - THE BASICS (Part 2)

Now that you know what your credit score is and how much home you can afford, the next step is to decide on a new home or pre-owned. Both have their advantages.

A new home comes with a longer guarantee. A pre-owned home is in an established
neighborhood with mature trees and near schools. A new home built to your
specifications has everything the way you want it. With a pre-owned home, you
have to make some concessions. This is a personal decision you will live with so take your time.

Next look for a real estate agent. This is only one opinion, however it is in your best interests. A real estate agent can save you time, effort and provide answers.

Also, a real estate agent does not cost a buyer anything. Their commission comes from the seller at closing. Go slow in this step and shop around.

Many real estate agents are members of the National Association of Realtors (NAR). You can tell right away if the are NAR members because of their REALTOR® designation. Only NAR members are allowed to use this trademark.

Another method to find the right agent is talking to family and friends. Almost everyone knows of an agent and will give you good feedback on their professionalism, performance and services provided.
