When is One Battery Not the Same As Another?

By

I must start this blog with the caveat that my entire life, I don't remember a repair person ever visiting our house for anything and my dad always doing the automobile repair work on the cars at our house.

Last week, my father who is now 83 years called the medical supply company to order an new battery for the electric wheelchair. He was stunned to hear that they wanted $325.00 for a new battery.

Being from the old school of where people repaired their own cars, my father just went to the auto supply store and bought a new battery for $40.00 and put it in the wheelchair.

Viola!! It works just fine.

Just another example of people with medical needs being ripped off.

I would have assumed the the wheelchair need a special kind of battery, but no, a regular battery works just fine. How many times have we the uninformed public been taken advantage of like this?

WOW.... I guess I am kinda old school like your dad or I am a Scot...or maybe both!

I was told by my mechanic that he wanted $400 bucks to replace my alternator in my car.

I could not believe it could be that much (don't get me wrong, I am all for people making money.... but that just seem a bit extreme.)

Having grown up working on my first truck a 1978 Ford F150.... I thought how hard could it be.

I watch a youtube video on how to do it. Stopped by my local Krangen store in Encinitas and picked one up for $65 bucks and

20 minutes later it was in and done! and I save myself just under $350 bucks.... next week will be changing the rotors on my car ;)

Thanks for the post.... We should all take a second look to see what we are getting for our money, Realtors included!
