Buying a Home in Dutchess County NY - What do you do for fun around here?  Part 7

When buying a house in Dutchess County NY buyers are also interested in finding out what fun stuff the area has to offer.

For some buyers their fun activity is clearly stated in the needs analysis; such as the house must be located on or close to a golf course or on or near a lake.

Let me assure you that there are a variety of fun activities available in Dutchess County. 

•  For the golf enthusiast there are at least 14 public golf course in addition to the private ones.
• Are you into hiking or biking? If so, there are many trails for you to try.
• Maybe you love the outdoors however your are not a hiker, no need to worry there are many parks were you can just relax and read a book.
• How about a family activity such as fishing? Dutchess County has fishing lakes.
• There are also many opportunities to enjoy arts and culture throughout the county.
• Sailing on the Hudson is also a pleasurable activity there are several places for boat access to the river .
• You can also find many horeseback riding facilities.

Fun means different things to different people, for some, it might include going out to restaurants. The Culinary Institute of America is located in Hyde Park therefore you will find many fine restaurants in the area.

 Throughout the year each town will have local activities; for example in Red Hook there is Apple Blossom Day and Hardscrabble Day.

In the month of August you know the Dutchess County Fair is something you can count on, this is a lot of fun and attracts people from even other counties.

Come September there will be the Hudson Valley Food and Wine Festival.

And the list goes on, so I am sure you get the idea that living in Dutchess County will not be dull places
