Rosalina, that is one gorgeous mansion and some very manicured vegetation!

I love old mansions.  This is a beautiful picture.

Lola - This side of the mansion is very popular with TV and magazine Ads.  I believe Estee Lauder has one on that terrace.

Rosalinda, do you know who it belonged to originally?  Have a great day.

Oh, my!  What a beautiful estate!!!!  I am curious about the structure in the middle of the house that projects above the roof.  Is that some type of chimney with an arch in it, or is it some type of structure in the background, Rosalinda?

Kevin - Old Westbury Gardens was built for John S. Phipps, a U.S. Steel fortune heir and his family. He promised to build his wife a home that will resemble her family estate in Battle Abbey in England.  Construction began in 1903 and was ready by 1906.  It is still owned privately by the family foundation but open to the public for tours, concerts, wedding photo ops, TV commercials and even movies.  Love Story  in 1970 was filmed here.  So did North by Northwest and American Gangster in 2007.

Charles - Those bushes must be almost a hundred years old based on old photographs.  That lawn area by the terrace used to be a polo playing field when the Phipps family still lives there.

Sharon - That could be a chimney for the fireplace in the Ball Room which is behind the door in the middle.

Karen - I'll do fine in that kind of gracious living with a whole cadre of servants taking care of the house and garden.  What a way to live!

David - The mansion is modeled after the childhood home in England of Mrs. Phipps.  The surrounding gardens make you feel you are also in an English garden.

Konnie - Can you imagine living at such a grandiose estate?  The mansion sits on a promontory where you can see the gardens from the windows.

Wow that is such a gorgeous property.  When I think of a mansion, that is exactly what is should look like, not like the more modern version of what people build.

Robert - This is the real thing.  Those new "McMansions" just don't cut it.
