It has been said, "If you don't go out and tell prospects how good your product [service] is: it's like winking at a girl in the dark -- you know it but she doesn't." As real estate practitioners we must promote our services and what we can do for our clients in any way possible. Some long time agents shy away from the new social media and will not adapt and blog.

It is a good time examine your marketing approach. How do clients find you? Can they find you and if so do they understand your specialty and how you can help them? If the can't and you are not utilizing various forms of social media, now is the time to jump in and promote yourself with the "new wave" of technology.

Hi Gaylen,  I'm currently struggling with this issue.  Seems all my hard work put me in the # 7 position for the Century 21 South Florida rankings.  I was surprised by it and moved on.  Surprised how many agents have encouraged me to make it a promotion and part of my marketing. Hmmm

I think there is a very delicate balance between espousing your experience and giving the client what they are looking for, which most if the time centers around "what's in it for me?".

I agree Randy, my competition is out there getting known.

Bill, congratulations on #7, but what if your additional marketing moves you in the top 3?

That is one way to look at it Douglas, however, if the client doesn't know you how can you help them?

If the can't and you are not utilizing various forms of social media, now is the time to jump in and promote yourself with the "new wave" of technology.

This is a great blog, especially for those old-timers that just think the deals will roll in these days from floor calls or mailers.  Mailers are too expensive and the new generation of home buyers is turning to the computer first.  The media has taught them that they need to go to a lender first before looking for a property.  We have noticed that 25% of our clients are referred to us before they work with a Realtor.  This is why we have decided to focus more efforts on our web-based marketing and promote with the "new-wave" of technology.  Kudos to you Gaylen!
