Are you overwhelmed by the amount of information and updates that comes through your Facebook account?  I know there are days that I am!  Here's a simple solution from John Novak - Las Vegas and Henderson NV Real Estate that I'm going to implement!  Thanks John!

Via John Novak - Las Vegas and Henderson NV Real Estate (Keller Williams Realty The Marketplace):

Help with Facebook Friend ListsWhen your Facebook network grows into the hundreds and thousands, it can really be a challenge to keep up with the news stream on your home page. Between all of the status updates, links, videos and notes it can move faster than the ActiveRain dashboard!

Fortunately, there is a great built-in feature to help you manage and filter your Facebook content -- Friend Lists.

From your Facebook home page, click on 'Friends', then 'Create New List.' Give the list a name, select friends to add to the list, and then click 'Create List.' That's all there is to it! Your new Friend List will now show up in the left-hand navigation on your home page. (You may have to click the 'more' link to see it.)

I have lists of the agents from my office, people I know from UNLV, and people I've met through ActiveRain. When I want to see updates from only those friends, I just click on the appropriate list and it filters my news stream. This is a great way to focus your time and effort on Facebook.

Here's more info on Friend Lists direct from the help section at Facebook. And if you're more of a visual person, here's a short video from Every Dot Connects that demonstrates the process. Now get out and make some more friends, and keep them organized with lists!

Wow, Fantastic. This will be very helpful. Thank you for reposting. I'm going to implement it myself now.

Hello Tamara!  I am going to have to loook at this.  FB can be a bit overwhelming as your friend llist grows.  I just want to "unfriend" some of the people that keep inviting me to the stupid crap, and am tired of seeing mafia and farmland things... there is life outside of facebook!!!!

Hi Rob--I didn't recognize you at first!  Nice photo.  I agree, the thought of "unfriending" some of those "experiences" in FB would be nice.  I've got other things to do with my time and it isn't going to be spent on the computer!  You can go in and hide comments from friends if you want to.  I had to hide something that came thru from an Italian friend a few days ago.... certainly wasn't appropriate for a family rated page!!!

the only problem with the hide feature is it hides EVERYTHING from that person... May as well just unfriend them!

I haven't convinced myself to Facebook yet. Or Twitter. I still need a little privacy in my world. And besides, ActiveRain is enough to keep up with -- LOL.

Hi Rob--Nice for you to stop by.  Just got back from CO where we met with clients building a green/sustainable home on an incredible mountain top location!  Don't tell anyone, but I haven't gotten my whole FB thing completely organized either!

Hi Lynn--

I'm heading to Lake Tahoe to do some photography this morning.  Sun is shining, a few clouds, trees turning, gorgeous day. Can't wait to see what I find!
