Melissa, I love your photo. Being a native born Texan, it looks very natural to me. If I had a dollar for every typo I have seen on ActiveRain, I would be rich have lots more cash in my wallet. Some people just enjoy being rude. Now I have to go hunt down the comment unless you have deleted it. Have a great week, Melissa!
Shirley,
That is so nice of you. Here in San Antonio we are different. I just looked up the "rude person" and he is a home inspector from calif. so who cares anyway!
Melissa,
I think your picture is awesome. If only I had a beautiful horse to ride and have my picture taken while riding.
If I see a typo, or a few...I email that person and usually they just thank me.
I too have made typo's or they haven't been caught by the AR dictionary.
There is no excuse for criticizing a nice picture as is the one you have.
Hi Melissa - I like your photo. And pay no attention to the occasional rude comment. Maybe that person had a bad day and decided to take it out on someone they don't know, so they won't lose a friend or get their spouse mad. We are a very friendly community and the vast majority of bloggers here are helpful and encouraging.
What I wish people would do if they have a criticism of someone here is to send them a private message by email instead of calling them out in front of the world - especially if the comment is harsh or even rude. Better yet - keep such comments to yourself and move on to another post.
Sorry you got in the way of a grouch.
You are all so kind.
I appreciate the response and I will not change my photo just to make some person in CA happy. Thank you for the encouragement.
I love my state and I enjoy riding my horse. This is who I am on AR, this is not my business card.
Melissa don't apologize to anyone...especially those who don't deserve it.
Thanks Heather!
Oh........did I spell your name right? lol
Hi Melissa and on behalf of my fellow Californian, whoever he is, I will apologize to you. I hope that is the only thing we have in common, i.e., being from the same state.
And I love your horse too...
You take care,
Rick
Melissa, Please accept my apologies right along with Rick. Believe me there are PLENTY of horses here in the California North State. And some wonderful horse properties as well!!!
Rick,
I spent my younger years surfing in HB.....Camping in Carlsbad, Broke a leg in Big Bear on the slopes, loved Palm Springs, you name it......thanks for your post, I learned how to swim in the Pacific before I knew how to swim in a pool.......... your post was very kind.
your picture on AR riding your horse just shares with everyone who you are, and that is a good thing
Melissa, I'm so sorry to hear about such rude behavior directed at you. There is absolutely nothing negative about your pic with your horse! I see that all the time, as well as pics with dogs and children. Like michelangelo said above, "your picture...just shares with everyone who you are, and that is a good thing."
P.S. Even though I'm a California resident and was raised in Hawaii...I was BORN in Texas! Yeeee-HAH! :)
P.P.S. I LOVE horses! Friesians are my favorite.
What I found unfortunate about this post was that one person decided to be rude. Yes there was one typo in my blog, big deal.
I have typo's all the time! It's called being human.
This person even criticized my photo, here in Texas it is a nice picture.
It's not only a nice picture in Texas but it's a beautiful picture anywhere Melissa. I love it.
Some new AR members who reach out and write a post to learn more about the community on this site deserve better.
Treat people how you want to be treated.... bottom line.
P.S. Thanks for the tip on the swimming pool for the USDA. We have the same problem here in AZ. You are on top of your game Melissa.
David,
Thanks, I've added you as an associate. You have good information that is relevant to both of our areas, especially re: USDA.
Will try to subscribe to your blog, once I figure that out :)
