I used to think Tony Robbins was some kind of flash in the pants motivator.  Who hasn't heard of the guy who's always smiling with those big white teeth.  I remember when he helped Andre Agassi over his slump in the early 90's, and I wondered why he was looked as such a rock star by his adoring fans.

Well now I can say I'm a fan as well.  At the recent Strategic Equity Summit in Las Vegas, Tony was one of our key note speakers.  All I can say is it was an EXPERIENCE and if you want to go to an interactive event, then Tony Robbins is it!  The guy is amazing, such energy and perhaps some people may say he's full of euphemisms about life, but bottom line the guy does understand human behavior and now I can see why Andre was able to pull himself out of his slump in the 90's.

Anyone who's been to a Robbins event knows that you don't just sit in your seat.  My knee's are still sore and it's been over a week since the event.  Tony had allot to say and I'm not going to repeat everything, but the following points have already made an impact in my life.

One thing that many sales persons know is that emotion sells.  Emotion is also the key to failure and success in our lives as well.  Without emotion you have no power, and with no power you won't be able to persuade anyone to utilize your service.   What I also realized is that you really focus on you will feel, and what you feel will become the reality of your world at any given time.  So the only way to change your reality is to change the way you feel.

Sounds simple enough, but is it really that easy.  Well if you asked me before Tony's event I would have said NO. But after spending 3 hours with the guy with 4000 other mortgage planners I'm convinced that it's all up to me.  The key's to unleashing the positive emotion comes down to several actions.

First we need to raise our standards, and he didn't mean just in a religious manner.  Standards are banners which we must live our lives.  More often we look at standards as something we should live.  Their is a distinct difference between doing something because we should do it, versus doing something because we must act.

The second is "change your limiting beliefs", sound easy but how many of us run around with limiting beliefs or tape recordings of how our life should be.  One distinction that I thought of was my relationship with money.  I've always been taught that money is the root of all evil.  My father never has been comfortable with money and he's always preached to me that I should avoid it's embrace because it can lead us to become selfish and hollow.  My mother has always had a scarcity attitude about money and in result has a tough time enjoying the benefits of money when they had more of it in their lives.  Their attitude has had a powerful modeling affect on my own life and I've struggled with un-tapping my potential as well.  I've been also reading the "Millionaire Mind", and basically the writer states the same thing.  So what I decided is that money is not the root of all evil.  Money is only evil if I allow it to be so.  Money actually is a good commodity because it can bring freedom and blessings to my family and others around me.

The third way to change your life is to model what works.  How many times do we encounter individualist's that want to achieve greatness.  So they begin the process and struggle because they refuse to go down the path that has already been broken in.  They blaze out into the jungle and quickly get caught in thickets, while those whom are as motivated choose to follow mentors and associate with those whom have already been down the path.

The fourth way to change you life is to increase your emotional intensity.  I know that emotion is often frowned upon in our world, but intense emotion is the catalyst to might changes in the world.  Emotion is often difficult to always have present and so we have to practice opening ourselves to emotion in our sales presentations, our marriages and other facet's of our lives.  One thing Tony demonstrated was how to create emotion when your feeling flat. (that's where the jumping took place.)

Finally we should give more then we expect to receive.  This has been a tough one for me at times. I've realized that often I switch from abundance states to scarcity states, and too often I remain in that scarcity or survival state.  I think too often many of us reside within the scarcity state, and so often miss great opportunities to really give to others.

He also mentioned three qualities of leadership, the first being that when life happens that we must see it as it is, with the caveat that we stay away from negativity.  the second is that we see the situation as better then it is.  In other words we come up with a vision or develop a solution.  The third is make it the way you see it.  This third step can only occur if you come up with the vision of how you really want something to be.

If you haven't attended a Tony Robbins event, then I highly suggest that if the opportunity does arise that you do make every effort to attend.  You will never regret the decision!!!!

Welcome back to AR.

I did an "Unleash The Power Within" live event 2 years ago. It was a life changing experience. Prior to that I thought Tony was just another guy selling motivational tapes. A good friend convinved me to go with him and it changed my life.

Each day I look and what is the most effective day I can apply the massive action necessary to take me from good to exceptional.

Thanks for the reminder of that great experience. I need to go back again.
