I like the way you think!  I have been preaching this same thing!  People see $8,000. and start thinking "hit the mall!"  I am a fan of having some in reserves for the future...not having a mortgage payment for a few months is a very nice thought!

Jan Marie:  The 6-8 months of free mortgage payments doesn't seem to be thought threw as a bonus.  Think of it, your first month usually has no payment, then 6 to 8 after that!  It's great.  I don't know why more people aren't jumping on the wagon.
