This was so well-written and focused on one of the (rare) positives I had to re-blog!

September 11th 2001  --  The Day the World Stood Still

I don't revisit Ground Zero-It is too difficult for me and too sad.  One devastating day that changed ourselves and our world forever.

These pictures are from last year and show Downtown Manhattan and some photos of St. Paul's Church which is located on Broadway, directly across from Ground Zero.  It is nothing short of a miracle that this church remains and is said to have been protected by a huge Sycamore tree that sheltered it from the falling debri.

It also survived the Great Fire of Downtown New York in 1776.  It was the Church that George Washington prayed in on April 30, 1789 after his presidential inauguration and is the oldest operating church in Manhattan

It became a refuge for those that stationed themselves at Ground Zero after the attack to help New Yorkers.  It was a time that the Country pulled together in ways I have never seen.

Tomorrow, September 11, 2009, is a day filled with sorrow as we all remember.  They will  read the names of the over 3,000 people that perished in a makeshift memorial on the Sacred Ground where the Twin Towers stood.

Before you go to bed tonight, please pray for all of those who perished that day.  Please pray for their families and loved ones left behind.  Please pray for those that have passed and become ill from coming in to give their assistance at their own risk of life.  And please pray for those still so traumatized by the attacks they have left New York City but have not been able to return to leading a normal life.
