Chinese drywall has been found in homes in Newport News Virginia. This was reported in an article in the Daily Press on Monday. Read article: Do we have Chinese drywall issues?

Usually found in homes built between 2006 & 2007, Chinese Drywall was purchased due to a shortage of building supplies.

Chinese Drywall has reportedly been found in homes in 24 states including Virginia.  See map.  I posted a blog a few weeks ago about homes with Chinese drywall in a subdivision in James City County near Williamsburg.  Read the blog The nightmare that homeowners face with Chinese Drywall.

It is heartbreaking for homeowners to build a brand new home and then be forced to move out because of the rotten egg odor or health concerns related to having Chinese Drywall in their home.

Sybil - We're still discovering all the places Chinese drywall has been used.  The housing boom created such demand that there were severe shortages around the country.  It's a good day for lawyers.

Exactly.  I understand that the residents of the neighborhood with Chinese Drywall in James City County are in the process of filing a class action suit.

This is serious and scary.  I hate to see that it made its way into Virginia.

Sybil, definitely scary.  Here in the Madison/Huntsville AL area those years experienced much new construction...I'm very concerned but, have not heard anyone mention anything about it.  When I checked the map above for states reporting problems...sure enough Alabama was one of them.

Even in Michigan. Didn't think it came this far north. Hoping noone gets sick over it.
