Oh yeah. A gardening group. I'll never get off AR now.

I am an intermediate gardener at best. Most of my 1 acre parcel is landscaped with the exception of a portion that runs along a creek. The area is partially shaded and sits under a couple poplar trees as well as some spruce trees. The land sits up high enough so that it does not flood, but it does stay moist due to proximity. My wife and I have been looking at different plants to put in that area.

Any ideas? We are in Southern Idaho.

Some of my favorite shade plants are hostas of all varieties.  I also have some Jobs Tears which are interesting.   Ivy vines that winter over.   Sweet woodruff  is also a favorite.  Good Luck.

I don't know if they'll do well in your area because of the partial shade, but irises are very low maintenance, spread easilyand are beautiful in the spring when they flower.
