DC Home Prices on the Rise

According to the S&P/Case-Shiller index, prices in the DC metro area rose for the second straight month in a row, which indicates that the local real estate market has turned a corner.

In May prices rose by 1.3% and in June prices increased by 2.85% - the largest monthly increase since May 2006. Prices still remain about 12% lower than they were last year, but the recent trends are showing that they won't remain this low for long.

With area prices on the rise, interest rates at historic lows, and the $8000 federal housing tax credit expiring soon, it is a great time to invest in real estate.
