OlanaOlana

While waiting between appointments I decided to walk around Olana and get some updated shots.  Okay I am crazy about the Hudson Valley there is just so much to see.

So What is Olana?

Olana was the home of the famous Frederic Church a landscape painter from the Hudson Rivers School Of Arts.

The Hudson Valley is indeed a beautiful place. I had never even heard of Olana. I'm going to have to check it out.  It must be awesome in the fall.

Classic old building, it looks like it was originally a church or some sort of structure that was converted into residential.  Just seems to have too much character for a have been intended for a house.

Hi Jennifer,

My goodness, I never heard of this place. How spectacular! I can't imagine how it would look covered in snow?  If I ever make it to your neck of the woods, it's a place that i'd love to see.

Olana in the fallJoan it truly is a lovely place to live.

Barbara - You will love it, it sit high above the the Hudson River a perfect spot for someone someone who painted landscapes.  If you make the trip you should also visit Clermont which is right on the banks of the Hudson.  The Thomas Cole place is on the other-side of the rive across from Olana.  Give me a call if you plan a trip here.

Robert - Mr Church had it specially built, A visit to the site would show why he wanted something majestic.

Lori it is truly stunning.

Lynda I know you would love it.  I  don't have a picture with the snow on the ground but I can share a couple from the Fall.

Jennifer, there are some amazing homes along the Hudson River. I can't remember where I went, but it was a home that is now a museum, and what a place! Love the photos, thank you!

What a cool building. It is quite fanciful! I wouldn't mind living there--let me know if it ever comes on the market. Maybe I can rent a broom closet!

Cheers,

Robin
