Lynda, beautiful pictures.  How many people live on the island?

Lynda, those are some great shots.  Maybe someday I'll get there and see it for myself.

Hi Steve ~ It would be a long sail from Lake Mead!

Rene ~ It's a fun place to visit.

Hi Sharon ~ Wikipedia says just under 4,000. Last time I checked was decades ago, my then business partner had a place there. The population as you can imagine swells in the summertime.

Hi June ~ Catalina can be a day trip for us who live in SoCal. If you have the time to spend a few days there are wonderful. You can explore the island, I've hiked all over it myself, lots of hills.

Hi Lynda - I didn't realize it was that far. Great spot for a day trip or short vacation.

What a great place. There is such peace and serenity near the ocean. (At least until the big storms roll in) Great shots.

You have so many great places to go in your area. It must be lots of fun to just go on short excursions!

Hey John ~ You are absolutely correct, it's a great day trip for us. The Catalina flyer normally has several trips a day. Your new photo looks good.

Hi Randy ~ Thanks so much!

Trey ~ So true, yet I'm surprised at times how many people who've lived hear for decades and never been to Catalina.

Hello Jennifer ~ Thank you, always good hearing from you my friend.

Hi Karen ~ I can see why, it's such a beautiful place. It's funny how much further away it seems from L.A.

Hi Karen ~ Yep, I think it's really an affordate get-away.

Steve ~ Well it's a little hard getting there, but once you arrive it's a great way to get-around the island. They have a limited # of vehicles, I hear it takes years to get one of your own. They only allow replacements and not additional vehicles. So bikes are a good thing, except for the hills.

Hi Maggie ~ So good hearing from you, thanks!

Lynda

Like the lighthouse; being from the midwest I have a soft spot for these.

Lynda,

Have been to Catalina many times, but have never stayed on the island.  We scuba dive and spent many weekends during the 90's right off the shoreline of Avalon enjoying the kelp forest and sea lions.    Quite an amazing and restful place.
