We have brown pelicans and white ones too here in Texas. I see the white ones on lakes and the browns on the coast. My wife and I love them all.

Pelicans are so strange looking.  They seem prehistoric.  Are white pelicans rare?  I have never seen them before.

Hey, Monika - I have taken quite a few pictures that I'm cataloging in a special folder because I find them to be painting-like, such as the American bald eagle that I posted earlier tonight.

Hey, Trey - All we seem to have in the wild here are the California brown pelicans. I remember seeing the white ones at Galveston, Corpus Christi, South Padre Island, etc., but not out here.

Hey, Kathy - Some of the pelicans are as big as a medium-sized dog.

Hey, Pam - They are not endangered, but out here the California brown pelican is common whereas the white pelicans are not.
