Resale showings in August 2009 were above the previous year for the first time since the resale market began slowing.
Overall, resale showings in August 2009 were up 5% to resale showings in August 2008.
Some areas saw huge increases in activity, while some of the previously more popular areas actually saw decreases in homebuyer traffic.
What are the most popular areas for resale showings in the Triangle?
Wake Forest, Johnston County, and Chatham County are top of the list, while Morrisville, Cary, and Chapel Hill are actually less popular.

Cary, Apex, Morrisville - resale showings down by 3%
North Raleigh/Falls Lake Area - resale showings up by 7%
Durham County - resales showings up by 4%
Southwest Cary, Holly Springs, and Fuquay-Varina - resale showings flat
Wake Forest - resale showings up by 24%
Johnston County - resale showings up by 18%
Raleigh Inside the Beltline - resale showings up by 6%
Chapel Hill, Carrboro - resale showings down by 4%
North East Raleigh - resale showings up by 8%
Southeast Raleigh, Garner - resale showings up by 8%
East Wake County - resales showings up by 5%
Chatham County - resale showings up by 14%
Why are some areas becoming more popular for the resale market? Perhaps due to lower home prices - overall, Chapel Hill, Carrboro, Cary, and Morrisville have had some of the area's highest values.
