I'm SO doin' the Snoopy Dance right now. After 7 months, 195 posts (today's makes 196), 2885 comments made, 2667 comments received, 51 blog subscribers, 66 associations, creating 1 group, inviting 1 member to join, 1 featured post and 1 Active Rain workshop, I am please to announce that:
The points are great, but they are not the only reason I am doin' the Snoopy Dance. OK, the points are fabulous for a competitive soul like myself. I have to admit...I've wanted that little black box at the bottom of my photo ever since I first knew what it meant. And now I get one. Yippeee! However, what I found that is so much more valuable along the way to 100,000 points was a community of interesting, fun, sometimes nerve-wracking people that make logging onto the web as comfortable as a well-worn pair of jammies at the end of the day.
I have learned so much about making my blog posts better from Active Brad Andersohn, Jeremy Blanton and "sockless" Bob Stewart (not to be confused with "Shoeless Joe Jackson"). While they are not the only ones greasing the Active Rain wheel, they have been helpful to me in particular (I can be quite a squeaky wheel). Always there with helpful insight or figuring out a better way to make the Rain fall, these guys and their other Active Rain co-horts are what make this such a great community.
I have met some fantastic people here as well and made some genuine friendships along the way. Thanks to Active Brad and Bob Stewart's workshop held in Phoenix earlier this month, I was able to meet face-to-face with Carra Riley (the Cosmic Cow-Pie Queen), Lori Martinez and Miss Anna "Banana" (who made us all honorary "bananas"). And, while not face-to-face, I was happy to have become friends with Chris Fisher, a fellow virtual assistant and an extremely kind, generous and warm human being, and Mary Yonkers, a real estate teacher whom I will be meeting face-to-face soon.
I also learned alot from other fellow Rainers, like Lenn Harley, whom ALL of you have seen when you first look at the ActiveRain.com site, Miss C Tann Starr, the reigning (wordy) queen of all things Club Chaos, Michael Thornton, who know how to make blogs "POP", Russel Ray and his cool cat Zoey, who has some of the most amazing photos in his posts and is an all-around fun guy, Gary Woltal, always there with words of wisdom and sanity, and so many more that I couldn't begin to count them all!
OK, Bob. I know, I know. There are more links than there should be in a regular post, but I don't care! I'm done gushing about how happy I am to have met this milestone. I gotta go finish up my Snoopy dance now. I gotta figure out how to get to 200,000 points before the end of the year. (I told you I was competitive!) But first, I think I have to go do another Snoopy dance. Dah-dah-dun-dah dah dah daaah dah!
Nothing like a little peppy music to start the morning! Congratulations on gettting to 100k points. That looks like such a far way off for me, but one of these days.
Thanks, June. When I started, I just wanted to join in on all the fun. When I found out about the points system, it just cranked up the competitive side in me. Then, when I found out what the little black box with all the zeros in it meant, it cranked it up even more.
Well, Heath. Since I'm not a Realtor® (I'm a virtual assistant...if you're not sure what that is, please visit my website), I don't see getting a listing or a property under agreement as a deterrent to having a good day. But, I send those wishes on to you. How's that?
Thank you, Jane. It always seems so far when you first start. But, just keep writing, commenting and interacting with other members of Active Rain and you'll get there soon enough. I'll be there to congratulate you when you do, too.
Thank you, Carole. I appreciat that. Congrats on over 400,000. That's a whole lotta work there. I'll be there someday. Of course, by then, Lenn Harley will have over 1,000,000. How will they fit all those zeros on that tiny little box? They'll have to come up with something else. :)
Heather - congrats on meeting this milestone. Nicely written post about the experience and great recognition of those that inspired you. Here's another dance of joy for you.
Thank you, Carra. The way you are going, you'll be hitting 100K in no time at all. And I will join you in the Cosmic Cow Pie dance of joy then. :) I'm so glad I met you in the rain.
Wow, Heather! I found this because of the re-blog (thank you, Pamela) :) And having just put up my celebration of reaching 30,000 points, I am very impressed. May you assist all with the same fervor you had in getting your points!
Thank you, Boss Lady. I appreciate it. Thanks for getting me interested in joining the little community that is Active Rain. And, of course you get points for re-blogging. That's the icing on the cake!
Thanks, Shoshana. That's so sweet. I'm actually working on putting together a class about how to make AR work for you for sometime next month with Pamela. You'll have to make sure to attend. I've been here for a short time but have learned so much that I think other people could benefit from.
That is just SOOPER!! Congratulations Heather on your 100,000 point mile marker! Takes a lot of work and dedication. Can't wait to see 200,000 and the banana suit! LOL!!
Heather: congratulations on reaching your 100,000 points and on all of your hard work and all of the fun you have had ~ and for all the fun you are going to have!
I knew there was something about you that rocked my world.
As soon as I saw the Snoopy pic, THAT WAS IT!!!
Snoopy is one of my all-time favorite characters.
I know ALOT about his history because I had to study him in great detail because I played him in "You're A Good Man, Charlie Brown"
CONGRATS on your 100,000 accomplishment!! Since your within driving distance, I am SO buying you a Corona (if you like beer, otherwise you can order one of those fruity things with the little umbrella)
I would have been doing Woody Harrelson's "Happy Dance" from "Will & Grace." Nonetheless, Congratulations. The more points you get, the easier it is to get more points.
Sorry I'm so late getting here with my congratulations. I think we are running with close to the same amount of points. Something tells me you're going to hit the 200,000 before me if you are gearing up for the end of the year lol.
Congrats!!! Meeting you in person was great! We should have done the happy dance on the beach after lunch. You now have an Open Invitation to come to Erie anytime. The Welcome mat is always in front of the door. Mary
