Showing all these foreclosures has finally caught up with me.

I am sick this week.  it's been a long time since I've felt so horrible  For days my throat was on fire and my ears hurt, then I had the runny eyes and the sneezing. Of all the weeks I didn't have time to be sick, I have my charity golf tournament tomorrow. I went to the doctor and she said it was allergies.

I have always known that I am allergic to mold.  However, I have been in and out of these houses with mold all Summer with no problem.  It seems, though, that in the Fall there are so many mold spores present in general that I can't shake it off as easily.  This weekend I went into several homes, most of which had mold (only 1 disclosed this in the listing), and its been steadily downhill for me since.

What do I do about this?  Clearly, I can't refuse to show vacant homes, I don't want to find another job, oh no! maybe I need to wear a mask.  I'm too cute for a mask....there has to be another solution.

Suggestions?

I would hire a great lawyer and sue the banks for all of the mold in the homes. What do you think?

Stacy-Ann,

Sorry, I can't help you with the mole but I can commiserate.  The life of a realtor is so glamourous!  The problem that I have in showing foreclosures is fleas!  I have been biten so many times. A few months ago one of my clients was so biten with fleas that she had to get medical attention.  Oh, those wonderful foreclosure properties!

Your allergy bucket is overflowing and now the mold is making you sick.  I have sensitivity to mold too.  I don't have any answers beyond a mask which I am considering too.  I hope someone out there has an answer.  I will check back.

Allergies happen.  Carry and wear a mask.  Just explain to your Erby - The Central Kentucky Home Inspector Breathing Maskclients that you have sensitivities to the mold that they may not.  Carry a couple of spares and offer it to them too!

Maybe it's time for all of us to wear respirators when showing these bank-oened "gems".  I suppose we should consider adding them to our equipment bags in the trunk.

I thought all foreclosures were neat as a pin.  Aren't banks trying to show these houses in the best light to maximize their value?  Just kidding.  Mold is very annoying, as is the beeping fire alarm in every room.

Erby - I think you are right, the clients would be happy to have them too.

Tom - It's sad to think that a respirator actually sounds like a good idea to me.

Brian - those beeping smoke detectors drive me up the wall too.

Erby - The Central Kentucky Home Inspector Mold breathing maskThis always gets me to get my respirator out.

It'd be a good idea for y'all to carry some form of mask, just in case you get one of these houses to show.

Carry a spare or two, or just buy a whole pack down at the local medical supply sotre.

You're lungs will appreciate it and so will your customers.

Remember, it can be fixed, but why expose yourself unnecessarily!
