O Magnum Mysterium - Morten Lauridsen

I just found this recording of Morten Lauridsen's O Magnum Mysterium. I was privileged to sing this piece with my church choir of about 30 members and it is one of my favorites. Well, actually I have a lot of favorites now that I think about it, but this one is really special.

This version was performed by UST Alumni Singers under the direction of Allan Diona Sims and is beautifully done with a rather small choir.

"O great mystery"... I loved listening to this, Ann. It makes me look forward to Christmas. I have been listening to Panis Angelicus a lot since Ted Kennedy's funeral; couldn't get it out of my mind. Now I will listen to O Magnum Mysterium instead. :o)

Bravo! Beautifully done! Thanks for sharing this Ann. I loved it! BTW - love your new photo too! I just put in a higher res of my same photo - I look exactly the same - and HATE photos of myself! LOL When I find one that's fairly decent, I tend to stick with it unless I cahnge my hair or something.... :)

Ann, for some reason it never occurred to me until now to look up my favorite obscure choral pieces on YouTube. I've just been browsing a variety of Poulenc, Pablo Casals and Benjamin Britten choral pieces (as the first that came to mind from when I conducted a choir). Thank you for bringing this up! I love the Poulenc O Magnum Mysterium, so got distracted... this one is beautiful, too.
