good neighbor

Realtors® do more than assist real property buyers and sellers - they are active members in the communities where they work. Many Realtors® volunteer their time to help a variety of local, national and international organizations.

The New Hampshire Assocation of Realtors® (NHAR) Good Neighbor Award program was established in 2003 to recognize the efforts of New Hampshire REALTORS® who make exceptional contributions to improve the quality of life in their communities. Eligible activities are not limited to real estate or housing issues and may include such things as youth mentoring and homelessness prevention.

I am pleased to announce that I have been selected the 2009 recipient of the NHAR Good Neighbor Award for my work with New England Pet Partners, a nonprofit organization dedicated to bringing people and pets together to enhance well-being and education with pet-assisted therapy.

Raising awareness about the benefits of interacting with other species is a lifelong passion for me.  "I have always loved pets and understood their importance to the well-being of individuals and families. "My motto is, 'It takes a pet to make a house a home.'"

It is that very passion that has lead me to be a volunteer for NEPP, serving as a Board Advisor, mentoring at board meetings, raising awareness through the media, fundraising, accompanying the pet partner teams on visits and volunteering at functions such as NEPP's annual Pet Wellness Festival.

"I promote NEPP every opportunity I get."   "Pets bring joy, healing, companionship and well-being to everyone they touch."

The winner receives:

  • $1,000 donation in their name to their community charity
  • Ceremony at the recipient's charity of choice - to be awarded at 2009 Pet Wellness Festival
  • Coverage in their local media and on NHAR.com
  • Prestigious crystal award
  • Use of the Good Neighbors Awards logo on their Web site and promotional materials
  • 5,000 Active Rain bonus points!  A post on Active Rain

I just read Edward Backman's post...  Sunday, September 20th is National Good Neighbor day... be sure to say hi to a neighbor.

Are you a good neighbor?  Let us know what you are doing.. and feel free to provide a link to your charity.

Call me to find out why New Hampshire was chosen as the Most Livable State in America! and the Third Healthiest State in America!   Whether you are relocating to New Hampshire or already live in New Hampshire and you seek buyer focused representation, contact me, I would love to show around.

Joan CONGRATULATIONS on receiving this award, and by the way 5,000 points is the least that ActiveRain could do for one of their members that is being recognized this way :)

George ~ Thanks .. Just kidding about the points... It is nice to hear about the things we do in our communities.  I know you are very involved in your community as well.  You too, should earn an additional bonus for all the wonderful information you share to keep us up to date on the ever changing mortage world

Marti ~  This is a great organization and the pet partner teams make such a big difference in people's lives.  It is incredible to see the teams in action.  You my friend are such a giving person, that you should receive a good neighbor AR award... You are truly a friend of this community.

Deb ~  Nice to see you smiling face. I appreciate your kind words and I know you are very busy participating in your community.

Carole ~These are the types of residential settings where the pet partner teams bring joy to those who cannot have pets living with them.  The dogs, minature horeses and their humans bring so much joy to everyone... Thanks for the link to this wonderful charity.

Gary ~ Thanks for stopping by.  I am not surprised to learn that you are a pet lover.  This is a great organization and the people and their pets are very special and bring so much joy to everyone they come in contact with.

Jennifer ~  It is amazing how many of our colleagues take time to give back to the various charities in their communities.  Often these contributions are not recognized.  I am glad that NHAR has this good neighbor award to highlight both the realtor and the charity.

Congratulations! I'm sorry to see that ActiveRain retracted the 5,000 points they were going to award to you -- LOL. And that, of course, leaves me with just three more things to day:

  1. Joan rocks!
  2. Joan rolls!
  3. Joan rules!
