Hello Leslie, curious you've mentioned how technology has changed so much. These cannons are replicas to be sure. One thing however that makes them unique -- they were crafted by local Vancouver High School Students! (this in a day and age when High School "Shop" classes don't seem to exist in our area). Thanks for stopping by. John
Hello Lee and Carol, as the oldest "settled" community in the Pacific Northwest (and older than our Sibling Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada to the north!) we have some interesting and fun history to photograhp and enjoy -- more to come! Thanks! John
Hello Jim, I think it is a community treasure to have items that aren't just "photos on a wall" but tangible items you can see and relate to. Thanks! John
This made me laugh, John - not because it is funny, but because my mom tells the story about how when she was a teenager, they used to roll the cannon balls from a similar display in her hometown down into the river! The town finally attached the balls together to prevent the kids 'sport'...
Hello Steve, I agree that these displays some how keep history alive for us, and that indeed being vigilant regarding our freedom is a must. Thanks! John
