OTTAWA REAL ESTATE QUESTIONS

By
Real Estate Agent with Keller Williams Ottawa Realty

One of the frequent Ottawa Real estate Questions I get asked is , "how many houses should you see before you are sure that you have actually found the right property.??" Well the answer to this most frequently asked Ottawa Real Estate Questions, is quite profoundly "It depends !". Depends on what ?Well firstly it depends whether you are a local to Ottawa or an out-of-town Buyer regarding these Ottawa Real Estate Questions.

If you are from Out of Ottawa you might need to visit the various different neighbourhoods of Ottawa before you decide on an AREA of choice, before you actually narrow it down to a house."Area" is the most important of all the Ottawa Real Estate Questions.West Ottawa, East Ottawa,Downtown Ottawa, South of Ottawa are all quite different areas of choice. Some people want to be near to their place of work, and others want to be near to friends and family.(Others want to be FAR from family too !!)

If you know which AREA you want to buy in, you will naturally view fewer homes than if you are not sure which area you want.People can view between 4 and 20 homes before they buy.If you are sure of the area, then between 4-10 homes should be more than enough homes, but if you are not sure about which area, this number could potentially double.(8-20).Is this starting to answer one of the most frequently asked of all the Ottawa Real Estate Questions ?

For me it is more about "gut feel" than "how many??" Your gut will never lie to you, and when you are buying a property, it is a combined emotional and rational decision, but the emotional component cannot be under-estimated, as after all, it is YOU who needs to live there for a good while ! I think you "know" you have found the right home, when you feel the emotion of EXCITEMENT.When the thought of losing the home is not something you can easily handle mentally, then make an offer, and make it quick !

Lara:  I think that the best answer to just about any quesion... is "it depends."  It's funny... but I just wrote about this in a post that Steve Shatsky wrote today... and it is true.  Answering with "it depends" can be a great stimulus to a great conversaion.

By the way... how fortunate must be for you to live in such a great city as Ottawa.  I would so love to come up for a visit.  When I lived in Cleveland, Ohio I used to visit Canada quite often, but never made it to Ottawa.  I would love to see some of the sights Ottawa has to offer in some of your posts.

Also... I see you are a relative Newbie on Active Rain.  So... Welcome to Active Rain.  I hope you have found it to be as great a place as I have.  If there's anything I can do to help you learn your way around... please email me.  I'd be glad to help.

Hi Karen

I agree "It depends" does cover a lot of ground and allows room for discussion for certain !!

Thanks for your comments re Ottawa, it is a great city, small enough to be somebody, large enough to not be boring,

Thanks for the warm welcome !

 have a great week.

Best Wishes

Great blog posts Lara - very interesting topics and you're right! Every buyer will view a different variety and amount of homes before they find the one! I do know that when they do - there's a little giddy feeling in their stomach and you just know! I look forward to your next post!
