Speechless Sunday - Plane fast!!

Lake Conroe Sailing Association had a long distance race on Lake Conroe this last Saturday. We had a wonderful attendance of 19 sail boats. We were sailing the family station wagon (AKA a Catalina 22) and even with our head start the two Ultima 20's in our group flew by us (a combination of fast boats and great crew). This is Plane Fast which actually came in number 2; the number 1 boat was also an Ultima 20 but it flew by us before I had a chance to take pictures. It was a beautiful day of sailing and great fun!!_________________________________________________________________________________________________

SHIRLEY, I love it when we fly the spinnakers. They are always so pretty. Our spinnaker is pretty but with only two of us on the boat we didn't even try. It is a bit tricky!

KATHLEEN, Our Catalina is fun but not really a racing boat. In its second life it is now set up as a racing boat but it is truly like racing the family station wagon when you are racing against racing boats.

LYNDA, We enjoy our family wagon. We have thought of upgrading but I guess we need to find that killer deal.

STEVE, It was a cloudy day but no rain. The overcast skies made it very comfortable to be quite honest!!

ANDREA, It was fun! I don't usually crew but I would do this long distance race again.

IRENE, It was fun. The weather was predicting 0 to 5 winds so it was fun to see lightly white capping waves.

DEB, You know that my husband is hard up for crew when he recruits me (lol). My husband knew these fast votes would fly by him so he was much calmer than he normally is in a race. He did not yell at me once. I always get offended and then he tells me I'm not supposed to take it personally captains just yell.

The colors of the sail are so pretty! You are always having fun.... and WE have fun right along with you as we take in what you share! Keep it coming!

I used to do a lot of sailing on Lake Conroe, Lake Houston, and Lake Somerville back in the days when I had an 18-foot Catamaran. I'm glad those days are behind me. I'd rather have friends with boats than have to take care of the boats myself.

Marchel - Just beautiful and lovely picture....however, I only sailed once and it was under the Golden Gate Bridge. I was 20 years old....too cold, windy and I just got told to sit and stay!!!

Marcel, I do want a sail boat so much! I used to sail years ago at Lake Lanier and even though everyone in my family has power boats, a sail boat would still be my boat of choice. Lovely photos.

Marchel - How on earth did I miss these photos when you first posted them. They look just wonderful. . .I want to be there:-)

Hi Marchel -- I have only been sailing once and I was surprised at how much work was involved. It was so exhilarating to be out on the water, but the skipper (or whatever the person who is in charge is called) kept us busy.

Chris, Sailing is fun but also a lot of work. It is especially fun when the wind is really blowing but that is also when you work harder. I also love being out on the water.
