I'm curious about this one.  I was checking my Google rankings on a blog I wrote recently and I noticed that the people who re-blogged it were actually showing up before me in the search results.

So I checked on some others as well that I noticed had been re-blogged.  The results were the same.  Then I went back to my post after a week had passed and it seemed to have resolved itself.

The best I can tell is yes, it does allow someone to re-blog your post and they will out rank you in the search engine but only for a short time.

Does anyone else have an explanation for this?  I know there are many out there far more technical than me.

I don't know, but I have bookmarked this and will be curious to see the answers myself.  Thanks for asking!

Brian - I noticed the same in the last couple of re-blogs. I was right behind the re-blog. I don't know why though. Fresher content? ~Rita

Rita,

That's what I was thinking.  It does seem to correct itself after a while but I'm curious what kind of traffic it might cost you before it does.  It's probably minimal.  I should have figured you would have an answer.

Not sure of the answer but we neither allow reblogging on our posts nor do we reblog others.

Maybe i am too new but what is the big benefit to an author of allowing reblogging. I allow it but more because I thought it was expected than because I understand the benefit of it.
