So I don't know about you but I am never satisfied with the location of my kitchen trash can.

Next to the sink, it sticks out. And periodically smells like onion and garlic after I've created my famous salsa.

Stashed away in the pantry, I end up with drips across my tile and grout from sink to trash.

But I got lucky Saturday at my husband's company picnic where he I won a prize. A cool kitchen trash can.

  • Brushed stainless [no finger prints]
  • Thin design [fits anywhere]
  • Nice tight seal [won't share my salsa with the rest of the house]
  • Best of all, automatically opens and closes

This is more like a new toy. 4 D batteries slide the lid smoothly up and down with a push of a button.

If you can't find me at my websites, you'll know where I am. Opening and shutting my new toy. Now if it only played music...

I looked at the sensor activated trash cans, but figured that my cats would figure out how to open it.  I've got a slim, step-on can.

I love the fact that the "small things" are always so universal!

Lorrie, If so, you'd burn through those D batteries pretty quickly. :)

James, Growing up, my best friend was the boy a few houses away because I got to play with his toys that moved. My favorite one was the multi layered parking garage with a car lift. Our youngest daughter followed in my footsteps. Her house is gadget central. Now I set up race car tracks across their living room floor with HER daughter. :)

Li, for the most part, we all create trash. Storing it in style, now that takes talent. Or this new trash can. :) Kate

Kate, you just solved my trash can problem and I can sell the new purchase to my hubby who loves gadgets. Sometimes I wonder how I'd get by without your posts. LOL

Sue, when did you get back? I thought about your family over the weekend. Hoping the time went as smoothly as could be expected.

Of course I am always happy to be of service to your trash problem. Kate

Kate, I know I CAN be DENSE---but that can looks like a regular plain old CAN?:)

Mr. Charles, true my friend. So I will keep it simple. Try to remember your moss covered dwelling that was only an example...

Oh, still didn't get it? Okay, let's try again. The picture above of a non-gadget-trash-can is used as a contrast to the description of the new fangled battery operated one.

Picture = old and words = new

Better now? Kate

I got back Friday at 10:00 PM. We spent 10 hours total travel time, for a 1- hour viewing and a 10-minute burial while family members were trying to make small talk. I'm still trying to grasp what happened.

Oh Charles and I thought I was being SO clever. My laptop dedicated to images is at my daughter's getting a driver repair so will follow up at later date. :)

Sue, It is never easy. I'm so sorry for your loss. Kate

These are great for the person cooking and needing to throw stuff in the garbage and not get the hands dirty.

Randi, I am one of those who is more apt to get the floor (as opposed to my hands) dirty traveling back and forth to the trash. :) But for the cleaner cook, as you say, they are nice also. One daughter has one and found it handy when the kids were toddlers. Thanks for dropping in to comment. Kate

Hi Kate,

it's the little things in life that really matter, right?

Sounds like a great trash can.

Say hi to Nutsy for me!  : )

Tony, good point. Funny about the excitement over winning these prizes. Somebody won a pack of yellow notepads, someone else scotchbrite sponges but the grandprize was a new flatscreen TV. Kate

PS You are using sarcasm regarding Nutsy? Shocked at your behavior!

I'd be just as excited if I won a trash can!  Congratulations!  I'm with Charles, however, in thinking we need to see the real thing, not one that looks like mine.
