Google is really going places. In the last year or so, one application after another has rolled out of the Google Labs. One app which can simplify your online life is Google Docs. Google Docs gives you on online application that allows you to create, edit, store and share documents. These documents can be Word, Excel or even Power Point presentations. There are some formatting limitations, but these are minor compared to the benefit derived from the ease of sharing and collaborating on documents. In fact, as a test, I'm writing this post using Google docs, to see how easy it is to format and insert into Active Rain. (Worked great!)
Google is making a big run at Microsoft Office's virtual lock on the business world. In fact, Information Week posted a great story on the upcoming battle between these giants as MS gets ready to roll out Office 2010. MS is also developing their own Google Docs style application as well...
I see this competition as nothing but good news for us end users. Let 'em keep battling and we will have more and better options down the road.
