Thanks for the video, I am a huge believer in focus and positivity and although I am aware of most of the stories in the video It is a great refresher.

It is about persisitence, and not giving up - and at times when on the verge - of having good support systems for a quick kick, or soft shoulder, so that the moment passes and we can move on. A little help from my friends is always welcome too.  Have to see if I can find the video on you tube - -it wouldn't load for me on my computer.

Missy, I knew about Abe Lincoln but not the others! I'm going to make my kids watch this too! My friend's husband was told he wouldn't be a good lawyer - he's even been a judge and has been a very successful lawyer. Determination and perseverance outdo 'talent' any day of the week!

Missy, this is a gorgous post.  We try to each our children to succeed.  But we can't really succeed unless we've had at least one crash and burn failure. 

Missy this is so true, the responds to disappointments makes all the difference.

You preach it sister! And I thought his nickname was silent Cal! I guess he did have something to say. My fave... A man seated next to him at some State dinner and telling the then ex-president that a friend bet him that he wouldn't get more than 2 words out of him... Calvin's response was "You lose."

I agree with most all of the comments and especially Patricia... we must let our children fail and not bail them out every time as I've seen many in my generation doing. They will learn much more that way.

My parents said they never understood really what made me tick, but they have always loved my never give up attitude and will ride something in to the ground before I stop and because of that I've had 3 successful businesses in my life and one that introduced to my wife. (Who I also was not going to accept no as an answer, just kept asking... I think the 2nd time she figured out she better say yes to that first date)

I have a friend from Wisconsin that insists on persistence and consistency will always be a deciding factor. He blogs and is always focused on making his numbers. I like the Calvin Coolidge quote.
