That is the question!  So many in this real estate market believe that we need the incentives to keep the real estate market moving.  I'm thinking it moved before, why can't it move again?  Did the population stop growing?  Are people living in tents and RV's?  If there is an incentive and then suddenly there is no incentive, what then?  What is on the other side of the incentive?  Think!  Can incentives go on for ever?  Where is the ATM that will provide all this money?

What are your thoughts on this question?  Please email naisbitt@infowest.com to discuss.  i'd love to hear from you!

Nice post. It's good to talk about this.  But we need them for now IMO.

There is a huge difference between spending money and incentives.  We could can all of the "necessary" spending and put them into incentives and have a much better return as the results are immediate and there is no bureaucratic overhead.  i.e. when you donate you money to a government cause, about 80% goes into managing that cause.  Thus giving out canned goods cost us about 5 times more through the government than it does from merely the public giving.

Janet - As I stated in a post earlier today and which I forwarded to my representatives in DC. I cannot justify the housing tax credit.  And I hope they will neither increase nor extend it.

Let the free market once again be free...free from govt intervention and "incentives."  When you give someone else my money, which is what most "incentives" are.....it takes away my "incentive" to produce more and be productive.
