Got a dead computer??  Or maybe you have a few of them kicking around your attic?

They are not an easy item to get rid of just like all those old broken down T'V' s we've been collecting for years.

What do you do with them?

Can't set them out on the curb for the sanitation collectors to pick up and most of the time the local dumps won't accept them.

I think I have 2 old computers in my attic and more than a few monitors hanging around.

The town of Sandown New Hampshire is hosting a desperately needed Electronic Recycle Day and nicer still is that they've opened it up to residents of the following towns Sandown, Chester, Hampstead, Danville, Atkinson, Fremont, and Plaistow.

It will be held ONE DAY ONLY Saturday, June 23, 2007 from 9am-1pm
at the  Sandown Central School at 295 Main Street

A small fee will be charged for more information click here>>> Sandown Town Electronics Recycle Day

This is such an important service.  We have them about twice per year.  We finally got a paint and chemical drop off facility that is open daily M-F to keep the toxins out of our water tables and environment.

I can't wait for a community wide tire collection day. With two boys and all their cars over the years I have way too many junk tires on my property. Thanks for stopping by Chris!

Monika, what a lovely couple the two of you make. I think I've said that before but somehow I lost track of you until now.

Glad to see the responsible way of dealing with these relics being addressed. I know that our City officials have work very hard at having centers were items that should not be put in the landfills are discarded and I believe that just recently several of the stores have an agreement that they will accept old items when new ones are purchased. As a matter fact when I purchased my new Vista computer from Best Buy, I was charged a fee for recycling older computers and I didn't even give them my old computer.

I'm so glad that we are starting to see the importance of this. Great that you share this with your community so that they too can be more responsible.

Thank you Gena.

I'm happy that Sandown is sharing this with surrounding towns as everyone really needs it. My old stuff has been in my attic for years. I'm happy to be able to clean it out finally.

Thanks so much for your very kind comments.

Monika, sometimes those things can be a real pain to get rid of.  Our town still takes them at the local dump, but I am sure that there will be a time when they stop doing that.

Monika - it is so hard to discard old computers in Miami, no one wants them.  I've tried schools, libraries and even Salvation Army.  You can't even donate them and the dump does not want them either.  It's pretty crazy.  I'm glas to hear some cities like NH are doing something about it.

Monika,

If you could see all the stuff I gave away it would cost me too much in shipping to send it to you. I used to have a box filled with old cell phones which were donated to women in distress. Old tv..old computer..clock radios...you name it and I owned it at one time. My problem was I had to have the first new toy on the block and ended up paying the most for it because I would not wait until the price came down because by that time I was on the way to the upgraded model! Good place to send those items!

Thanks George. They are a major pain to get rid of!

Ines...I'm surprised Miami does not do the same thing.  Sandown is just a little ittty bitty town.

Neal...LOL...Please don't ship it to me :)

Jay is just like you Neal...he has to have the first new whatever!!!!
