Professionals Return Calls

By
Real Estate Agent with Desert Heritage Real Estate

Professional agents return phone calls as soon as they can get the message. It is plain and simple and common sense to professional sales people who have sold in the real estate market and out of it for any length of time. With all the modern technology, cell phones, email, texting, what excuse is there for not returning calls to other agents? None!!!!! Why is this so hard to get across to agents in this industry?

I believe the problem stems from so many agents without any sales background or training. Just because you have a license DOES NOT MAKE YOU A SALES PROFESSIONAL. Seriously, if you think it does you are DEAD WRONG. You may be lucky and have sold a few homes or got a few listings but I am certain that once your family and friends run out you will be left without clients. Especially if you don't now sales techniques.

I wish I could say it is those NOT on Active Rain, but unfortunately it is some on here that are the worst offenders. It is a shame because there is a lot of good advice and information from professionals and it will help you increase sales if you follow it. For those of you who think you are professional, ready my ezine article and get some education. I guarantee it will help you!

Gaylen, as a newbie to this industry I find it extremely strange that while most of us are dependent on contacting each each for our livelihood, many folks have no sense of urgency in returning calls. I just don't get it. Are these agents just too busy? If so, with all the deals they are possibly missing out on they could hire an assistant.

Gaylen - Grrrr, I can't tell you how many sales "pro's" don't have the courtesy to return a phone call.  Yes we all get busy and yes some of those calls are annoying but c'mon people, the phone is your business life line..  I've been a Realtor for 16 years and I can honestly say with complete honesty that I have returned every phone call within a few hours and more than likely within the hour.  Some agents seem to think they are so important they can't be bothered, so why walk around with the blue tooth strapped to your ear?

My previous partner did not return calls and whenever I get a call and cannot take it right then, I am right back on the phone to them.  There is no excuse!

Bobbi, most of the agents "think" they are too busy, but in reality they are selfish, rude and lack professional courtesy.

John, you are a true professional by returning your calls and right on, the blue tooth is obviously for looks since they don't use it.

Evelyn, thanks for your insight and comments. There is no excuse!

TRUE TRUE TRUE! I just blogged about agents not returning phone calls. I am shocked at the blogs that are posted about being to busy and not returning phone calls to answers that are answered in MLS listing sheets. SHOCKED at the attitude that busy bank owned listing agents have because their properties are in demand.  I may not have 30 listings but I have several, bank owned, short sales and private sales listed..we are ALL Busy..and if we don't form solid respectfulrelationships today, we will have nothing tomorrow.  Real estate and Successful Real Estate is all about one words as far as I'm concerned and that is....RELATIONSHIPS!
