Columbus Ga, Fort Benning, area; OK, it has not come up in

discussion for awhile, but Columbus Ga is probably home to Coca

Cola. The reason for making this claim is the fact that Dr. Pemberton

lived just north of Columbus back in 1869. For those Atlanta residents who insist the soft drink home is

perhaps more correct than the Columbus claim that I made.

I'm sure that there are folks in Columbus that will forever claim this is home to Coke. As there are folks

in Atlanta who may call us crazy for thinking it began anywhere but Atlanta. The home of Coca Cola is now

the entire world, the home of my Coke is my cooler or refrigerator. This entire post has been "much ado

about nothing." What is important is that the Historic Columbus Foundation has preserved and protected

the wonderful little structure that Dr. Pemberton once lived in. Broadway in Columbus Ga is home to

dozens of other historic homes, many of them with interesting and sometimes surprising stories.

Funny! I guess everyone likes some claim to greatness. I find that Ohio and N. Carolina have the same type of feud going on when it comes to Orville and Wilber Wright. The Wright Brothers were born, lived, and died in Dayton, Ohio but their first flight took place in North Carolina.

Good morning Irene, Thanks for stopping by. The recognition for Coke's hometown was a much bigger deal in the 60's and 70's. I'm guessing Wilbur and Orville were your neighbors.
