How to Keep Blogging On Active Rain When Your Internet Server is Down

What can you do when your ISP is down at home?Don't get mad. Wash Dishes. Clean House.  Pretend your camping out and relax and enjoy.  Call you SEO or clients.  But regardless, you can  still write blogs just the same, then save them in Word and then put them on the air when you get to the office or if the server comes back later.  In a way it isn't bad, because you don't get distracted from the task at hand ( composing a blog )easpecially with  no emails, facebook, ebay,  games or any of a host of other cyber space distractions to slow down the thought process.

It almost reminds me of college days sitting behind an old manual typewriter that didn't have spell check with thesaurus, much less a correction ribbon .  Yes..... them were the good ol' days ...just you and the machine and maybe a collegiate Webster's Dictionary, oh..... and a special eraser for ink. Even though I had the eraser I can recall wasting many a tree's worth of paper just to turn out a 10 page research paper,  And when the last piece of onion skin rolled of the press......well you felt like you had just completed something worthwhile, and especially so if it came back with an A+ on it!

Often times I have read posts on Acticve Rain talking about writer's block, or how do you think up something to carry on about or rant about in a blog. Well It  really is much like personal conversations in my opinion. You just strike up the conversation and roll with it. Say what's on you mind, hope that it is helpful or stimulating to others here on Active Rain, and then be prepared to respond to the comments....good or bad.

So that does it for Post # 1 without my Internet server. Oh  and while writing this I just squished a  Texas size scorpion.  They are pretty common right now as they are trying to come in out of the rain. I'll put up with fighting the little demons as long as the rain continues! Come on Rain!

Trey: There IS life off the grid. Seems like getting away from it all is as easy as unplugging something though these days.

Hi Trey... I write most of my posts offline (some even on legal pads... a habit I inherrited from my grandfather) and then post them later.  It's why I often have several posts partially written.  When I have some spare time I can usually finish off 3-4 of the partially written ones, then I try to stagger posting them.

There are times when I write offline, but like you mentioned, when the internet is down, I'm usually trying to accomplish something else.

I do believe that i turn out better posts when i compose offline though... I take more time to do them.

Don't forget if you have a smart phone you can always use it to access active rain and post from there, although a little more tedious in my opinion.

Trey, I write most of my posts ONLINE cause I want to get them done and out of the way and have so many redundant paths to the Internet one type of connection NEVER stops me. No Active Rain with their Bad Gateways and Proxy Errors, that is another story LOL.

Trey:  I was doing this last night, but just so I could have some blogs saved and ready to go.  Looks like I had a very brief breather before things are picking up again.

Its a good idea to keep your ideas somewhere. Write a post on Word and move it to AR later on. Or like you said.. do something else outside of blogging. :-)
