Short Sales and the funny things sellers do to keep control...

By
Real Estate Agent with Keller Williams Team Realty

I have a short sale in which I am the listing agent... When I met the seller (an old high school friend of mine) who was having trouble as we all are in the current economic times... anyways him and his wife had the townhome listed with an agent who had it listed at $250K when the actual value was around $90k - $120k and instead of trying to sell the home the listing agent at the time was charging them $100 / month for listing it... Nice scam right? So I inform them of my expertise in short sales and how I could list - and actually sell the home, what a concept... so I put townhome on the market and within a week secure a fair market price offer of $120K... Now this is where it gets funny... The seller will not allow me to negotiate with the bank.. She insists on controlling the whole situation and now me, the selling agent, and eventually the seller themselves will be out... Thanks for wasting a month of my, and the selling agents time....

Rick - your outcome may explain why your predecessor was charging a monthly fee.  At least he (or she) got something for their valuable time.  I hope it all finally works out for you.
