Insight on Naming Your Website

How important is the name of your website?

The way that this whole thing works can be super confusing. Do the key words in your WEBSITE name have anything to do with how Google ranks you?

My market is Mason County Real Estate. Specifically Belfair Washington Real Estate. I want people interested in this to find me. I am getting ready to get my outside blog and I want to select an appropriate name for my website. However, my competition over the search engines, have names that have NOTHING to do with Belfair Washington Real Estate.

I have always understood Geographical locations are super important in your name. Then why are these other folks kicking my butt on page rankings?

Websites is something that a some of you guys know about. There are even more of us that are clueless and would love some help.

I am assuming that the content on your site is what gets you these rankings. So I am just wondering what is the importance of having a solid name for your website.

Give some insight on the strategy to selecting a name to your website.

Josh, wish I could help you out with this...I am here to encourage anyone to answer who can help...I too would like to know the answer to this.

I would love to hear the answer to this as well...My Windermere website gets a lot of traffic but I think it is the content ?? maybe - maybe not. Wish I had the answer for you Josh.

Hi Josh - It's probably a combination of things that are ranking the other sites ahead of yours. Content, age of the domain name, and AdWords are three possible factors.

What's in a name? Everything! It is extremely important to choose carefully the domain name you want to identify your niche market. I own, www.FairfaxhomesforSale.com and www.loudounvirginia.com I have very high rankings for the terms "Fairfax homes for sale" or "Loudoun va homes."

By playing with the wording of my website, changing the title that shows in the browser and some wording, led to a big jump in google juice about two years back.

It is all in the name, at least the Google Juice thing is. I've been messing with mine, too.
