VEHICHLE ADVERTISING - SMART OR NOT???

By
Home Stager with Restage Inc.

I realize the potential of Free advertising by "wrapping" your vehicle but have always been concerned with the downside.

On the plus side -

The obvious it's FREE and if you drive as much as I do there is alot of people that see that everyday. Whether I'm parked at a house, store or just driving the exposure is huge.

It's a great way to build brand exposure as well.

On the down side -

I'm not paying attention and I cut some one off....there going to remember that and it won't be a good impression.

Privacy is a think of the past - everyone know's who I am and what I do. I'm a private person and prefer to be low-key rather than showy.

I'm torn on whether it's a good idea or not.

For the rest of the fleet...they are going to be wrapped but they're also going to have a sign that say's...Am I driving safe...1-800... Can't wait to have those phone calls.

Can't wait to hear your feedback. Thanks.

Kim, it has to be your 'style.' Wrapping or having my name, number and web site on the back or magnets is just not my 'style.' I have a company license plate and that's enough to keep me on my p's and q's when driving!

It works for some-- but we choose not to even put a sign of any sort of the car. Whatever works for the individual.

When I sold real estate I had car signs on my car and they were very effective.  I plan to add some type of adveristing to my next car.  As a home stager, I think it will be a great benefit to my business.

Hi Sue,

I recently got personalized license plates and I get stopped all the time just from that in parking lots.  I am looking into incorporating magnetic signs for the car in the spring.  This way they are removable.

HI Sue,

I had decals on my old car, and w/my new one I do not.  I've only gotten a few REAL clients from them, my teenagers HATE them, and I've had a few creepy issues w/having them on my car...

I would do the wrap over any magnet signs. Just a simple one in the back of your car. Just remember that you MUST obey all traffic rules... you are being watched :))

Sue, if your fleet has wrapped vehicles and it's uncomfortable for you, then don't do it.  It does work for me, but when my husband drives (rarely) I have to be on him about his aggressive driving habits.

I've had magnets on my cars since I've started and they are a great way of advertising.  I get stopped all the time and get asked about staging.  I've also received several jobs from them, so I think they work great.  But you are correct about the downside, I just recently received a creepy email from someone that said I cut him off, even though I am a very courteous driver, I don't remember doing it and it wasn't a very nice email.  I hate to poin the finger, but I'm almost positive it was my husband - he's a very aggressive driver and I have to remind him that he represents my company.  So far, the good have outweighed the bad.  I would still recommend it, but remember to be a nice driver out there.

I think it is a choice for each individual.  Personally, I am not a fan of the look that wrap gives so i would choose to not do it.  I also do not use the magnet....though I am sure you would meet many people who want to ask about your services.  Privacy is double-edged at times....and your time is valuable as well.  Pro-personal choice...and keep it classy!

I have removable window decals for my car - removable because when my husband takes the LR3 ("my" car) 4 wheeling, he can't see out the back window and has to remove it anyway ;).  It does make me mind my p's & q's a little more when driving though.

I have magnets on each side of the car and it has helped to generate a few leads and one job.  I only paid $30 for them from Vistaprint so it was well worth the money.  I get asked about them a lot and it's a great conversation starter and I often see people at red lights reading them and writing down my number.   The good thing about the magnets is I can take them off whenever I like so when my husband I have date night, they are easily removable and I'm off the clock.
