Hollywood East - Plymouth Rock Studios Obtains Financing!

Break out the champagne, it is cause for celebration! Plymouth Rock Studios has received funding for the construction of their multi-million dollar movie studio in Plymouth Massachusetts. It has been a long road for this group. They have worked extremely hard at bringing their dream to fruition and it appears that they will soon be breaking ground on the construction site. If you are not aware of what I am talking about, and I am still amazed that there are people that are not aware of this mega project, here is a brief overview:

Plymouth Rock Studios will be constructing a $400+ million studio complex on the site of the Waverly Oaks Golf Course in Plymouth Massachusetts. The complex will contain a state of the art movie production studio, 14 sound stages, a luxurious movie theater, a 10 acre back lot, offices, a hotel, shops and restaurant.

This is BIG news for Plymouth. I imagine that we will begin to see some changes coming to the community once the first shovel breaks ground. Congratulations, Plymouth Rock Studios!

Judy, that is wonderful news! Kudos to Plymouth Rock for wooing them in, great job! And that promises employment, which is also a good thing.

Gear up lady, you are about to get real busy. I would think rentals will be first on the list to fly off the shelf, then sales.

Congratulations Judy on the new movie studio there in Plymouth. I hope that it will generate a nice revenue stream for the local area.

Andrea - I am SO ready for this. I think it will get busy fast. Plymouth currently has some very favorable housing prices and there are some great buys. You would be surprised what some of the oceanfront property is selling for compared to other coastal towns. However, you need to pay attention to where in Plymouth as there are some bluffs that have considerable coastal erosion.

The studio is supposed to break ground on the road next month and hope to have it open by 2010. That is a pretty aggressive schedule. This is very exciting. So, when you moving here to work with me?

Don - You are dressed to the nines and look like you are ready to attend the first movie premier!

We are counting on it providing a much needed boost to the area. There are some very exciting changes happening in our region.

This is really awesome news. I must be under a rock, because I had no clue. Very exciting!

As someone who lives in a town where they make a few movies, it's really fun to occasionally run into somebody famous, other than a politician!

Sharon - I told you I was surprised there are still quite a few people that somehow missed the news. Although, in fairness, it has not received a large amount of coverage, mainly print (local papers, blogs, etc.) Now that they have funding, I imagine that it will become a little more publicized.

Pat - There have been quite a few movies filmed in MA, so that is not new. However, when the studio is up and operational, they plan on not only making movies, but producing series as well. That should bring some more famous people around and make the star gazers really excited.
