When you are walking down a sidewalk do you ever wonder who else has walked there?

Below is a photo of a sidewalk I took at the University of Virginia. These walkways were designed by Thomas Jefferson and built by his architects. There have been literally millions of feet on these walkways and many famous people.

Jefferson most likely and even people like Edgar Allen Poe (who attended the University)...

Uva Sidewalk

Oh yes and your Charlottesville Real Estate Agent, Charles McDonald has even walked these sidewalks!

Next time you are in a historic area, think about who may have walked where you are.

It will widen your perspective!

I often wonder when we go to older houses what the walls would say...hadn't thought about sidewalks...they are better preserved than one would imagine...have a prosperous weekend !

Charles:

I find all things "Thomas Jefferson" to be of interest. He was a fascinating figure.

Have you ever been on Hollywood's walk of fame?  I have spent hours looking at all of the movie star's signatures in concrete and thinking about all who have walked it. It's very interesting.

I do think about "who" may have walked in certain places.  One of the most fascinating was Jerusalem.

Thanks for making me stop and think.  Paul Revere, on his famous ride to warn of the British, road though in front of my office, but most days I'm just run around working without stopping and thinking who wnet down our streets before me.

Hi Charles:

I do think about that when visiting historical places.

Lately, it was when I was at Kitty Hawk.

Charles I remember visiting the US Capitol and thinking about all our forefathers who walked down those halls and steps before us.  The stair treads were worn from all the people who had walked on them and it really makes you think.

Charles what a great thought to ponder.  A lot of great stories could be written from this topic.

Charles, yes I also think about that when visiting historical places...like Italy....an amazing trip.  I'll be back at UVA the end of October...perhaps I can get some sightseeing in before my operation.

What an interesting thought... and photo.  I'd love to see what other historical places you can show us in Charlottesville.  Here in Calgary, our city is quite young, but I do know of one walkway and stairway that was created at nearby Spruce Meadows (equestrian show jumping facility) specifically for a visit from Her Majesty Queen Beatrix of the Netherlands.
