My time here at ActiveRain is brief. I've been here just over a year. And my first "contact" was from Marget Rome.
I had posted about helping my mother in law deal with a lot at once... the suicide death of her grandchild, moving to a new home in the same city and yet another one of her children preparing to move out of state. Margret picked up the phone and called me. I was with a client and didn't answer, but she left a lovely message and I returned her call and we talked for a while. I'll always treasure her input. She gave me some wonderful advice and I'm grateful.
Then one day after I posted about my company sponsored bowling team finally after ten years winning the championship and bringing me a plaque of thanks for always continuing to sponsor them ... even through the years they did not even place. The bowling league is called "Mixed Nuts" Well a couple of days after that post I got a gift of a bag of Mixed Nuts in the mail from ActiveRain member Marie Westerman. What a sweet and thoughtful thing for her to do, I thought.
Earlier this year when my step son was missing in Chula Vista, CA I posted the flier that his mother made. It was about the 4th day he was missing when I made the post. I got emails from several agents in the Chula Vista area that had printed out the flier and posted it outside their offices. Not to mention the countless number of people who were praying for Colin. Colin was found hungry and dehydrated about 24 hours after my post. He was safe and is now getting the medial treatment he needed.
And most recently, Chris Fisher, sent me a paper doll book she posted about and I commented on in the mail. It was just after the loss of my Grandmother and it came with the sweetest card telling me that she hoped my seeing George HW in his underwear would bring a smile to my face. Indeed it brought on a full blown belly laugh.
So my memories here, while limited by only 12 months are quite simple, yet life changing. I have a new circle of friends across the country and even extending into Canada. You know, on second thought, new family members. My ActiveRain family.
