Pinal County motto Pinal County, AZ is #1 in job growth for the nation, according to Money Magazine.

You never heard of Pinal County, AZ? Think again. You likely know something about Pinal County without having learned the name. It's the county just north of Tucson, and it's home to:

Bioshpere 2, the 3.5 acre glass-enclosed science research center in Oracle, AZ
Picacho Peak, site of the westerly-most battle of the Civil War back in 1862. The battle is re-enacted at Picacho Peak State Park every year in March.
Copper Creek, one of twenty ghost towns scattered around Pinal County that you can visit.
The Florence Coke Ovens. Florence is the county seat. The coke ovens have nothing to do with carbonated beverage or illegal drugs.

Pinal County has an Open Space & Trails Master Plan. Check it out. Approximately 50% of the county is comprised of:

Wilderness Area

The bad news is: Pinal County, AZ is #1 in job growth for the nation, according to Money Magazine.

Arizona will be the place to be as we continue to experience high growth rates. Investors continue to purchase inexpensive real estate to rent out to individual based upon the growth. Thanks for the information.

The highest growth is in and around Florence, the county seat, and it revolves around the prisons being built in Florence and Eloy. Long story short, this is a beautiful part of the world, and someone's actually hiring!

Hi Mike: I knew all of our jobs were going somewhere - I guess they like Arizona too!

Interesting historical note and it's also good news for any area these days to experience job "growth"!

Great info and as always your photos are excellent. BTW Jobs are good to have as long as it's not some sort of Toxic industry! So I guess coke ovens are a clean industry?

Russell - coke ovens and coke production are, without doubt, the industry of the future, and Arizona is hopefully going to lead the world ;-)

It has been many years, but I have been out to the Civil War reinactment. It was really cool, people living the way they did back when. I'm not sure I would be up for living like that in real life!

Just read the article about the Coke Ovens. I have never ventured that way... sounds like a serious 4WD trip. I thought you had written the article, had to take a second look.
