Hello Tony and Darcy, I love this big old anchor, an authentic remnant of the local history for our town.  Thanks!  John

Hello Lee and Carol, it seems a bit odd that there are now British or US records of what ship lost the anchor.  From the tour of Ft. Vancouver we are told the Hudson's Bay Company folks kept meticulous records of their inventory and such.  Perhaps the naval crew was a bit embarrassed at their lapse in seamanship!  John

John,

Finding history and then trying to discover what it means is both educational and fun. :)

Hello Jenny, treasure hunts can be such fun.  They are still finding buried artifacts around the old Ft. Vancouver site - finding interesting views into that era.  Thanks!  John

Hello Steve, this piece of history is nice, as it is out in the open to see and touch -- it is quite large as well!  Thanks! John

As an avid sailor I know the value of setting the pin on a hallard, boom or an anchor. What a neat find!!
