Port Jefferson Long Island New York --

On our way home from a Feng Shui Consultation on Long Island New York recently, Laura and I were passing by one of our favorite towns, Pt. Jefferson Long Island New York.

It's a waterfront town where you can catch the Ferry to Connecticut, find wonderful restaurants and those "different" types of shops you don't see very often.

As many times as I've visited Port Jefferson New York, I have never seen this Memorial.  I'm not sure if it's recently dedicated or I've just never seen it but I did keep thinking:  She MUST have been very loved.

Hi Carole!  What a touching memorial for Carla--It really does make your heart ache for the family left behind--she died at such a young, vibrant age too.

Beautiful sculpture and it sounds like a really peaceful, beautiful spot to stop at.  She's beautiful to look at, and so are the flowers.

What a beutiful memorial!  One can only imagine the impact that Darla's passing had on this young family.  I get goosebumps when I look at this photo.  It's very sobering.

Hi Carole, I was reading your post earlier and had previously finished a sad book and it may seem silly but I just couldn't comment at the time. It was inscription on the memorial that got to me.

Then I thought about all the love that went in this lovey dedication to Darla, she was deeply loved and how great is that? Pretty darn good in my book!

Debe, She sure did.  Those were fresh flowers on the sculpture so maybe it's new....I'm not sure because I don't remember seeing it before.

Sylvie, It actually was in such a lovely spot and it did feel very peaceful there.

Sheldon, It was lovely.  And I couldn't help but think how much she was loved.

Joan, I hadn't either.  It's unusual and just beautiful I thought.

Mara, It was exactly that...beautiful and sad.  But it did feel like such a pretty spot.  I loved the memorial.

Teri, Too young to have been gone.  There was no date so I couldn't find out anything more about it.

Carol, It's definitely unique for a memorial.  And very beautiful.  I loved that they had Darla holding fresh flowers and wondered who did that.

Mike, I loved the dedication too and the way it was worded.  Thank you for stopping by.

Hannah, You're so right, her family must have loved her very much.

Cynthia, We should all be loved and missed as much.  I didn't mean this to be depressing, I thought what a loved person she was.

That is one special memorial. I like the way they worded it, too: "died giving life."

Carole, Wow, what an absolutely gorgeous memorial!  Darla must have been a wonderful mother that was loved dearly. What a tragedy to lose her life at 37 years old, while giving birth.

Hi Carole, your post wasn't depressing at all, I'm just a too sensitive for my own good type of person. I think I feel too much, is that possible? It was a lovely post you wrote :)
