Here comes another twin-pick music trivia quiz. If you don't know how this contest works, it is quite simple. You receive clues as to the identity of the mystery artist. From those clues, you make a choice, take a guess, from the names below.

Simply use your mouse to click on the choices. If you get the answer right, you will be taken back in time to a video of a performance by the mystery artist. If, on the other hand, you are wrong, you will be ridiculed by my obnoxious cyber assistants. Have no fear, if they get under your skin, you are not alone. They have aggravated more than a few Active Rain members.

The mystery artist has, according to Billboard magazine, had the most chart success of any trumpet player in chart history.

During the mid-1960's, this artist had almost as many #1 albums as the phenomenon that was known as the Beatles. This trumpet player got his start playing and recording in his garage. Even though our mystery artist had #1 hit album after hit album, his biggest success on the singles chart came when he sang a song. That vocal performance, accompanied by his own trumpet, went to #1 on the hot 100.

Question: Which artist, based on Billboard's charts, is considered to be the most successful trumpeter ever?

 1. Louis Armstrong

2. Chet Baker

3. Al Hirt

4. Herb Alpert

5. Maynard Ferguson

Louis Armstrong would have to be my guess.

I remember when "Whipped Cream and Other Delights" came out and everyone was up in arms over the "naked" woman on the cover.  Sooo tame by today's standards.

I had to see those rude faces 3 times!  Herb Albert's song is great and the only reason I remember him.  I'm glad you're doing these things again.  They're fun.

Marcy,

The woman who posed for that cover, I think, lives in Eastern WA today. Barbara, Herb is still touring the jazz circuit. He will be in Seattle in January at a place called Jazz Alley.
