Have you tried Twitter yet? Twitter is a Web 2.0 online application that allows you to micro-blog what you are doing through IM, SMS text messaging and through the twitter website. How does this benefit teams? Each of your team members can join Twitter (free!) and become friends with each other. From there each of you can update and be updated through text messages on your cell phone (you have to pay for whatever your txt message cost is with your carrier). Everytime someone twitters in your group you can recieve it on your phone in a text message. This is a great way to keep track of people in your team when they are showing homes, not available for calls or hopefully at a closing. Take a look for yourself and see.

Been using twitter a little, just another thing to keep track of. If it could be more automated, then we're talking. -Charles

not sure what you mean by "more automated"???
As it is you can update twitter through your cell phone by txt message and it automatically updates to others in your group to their cell phone or IM. This seems fairly automatic to me, but I may be missing something. Let me know how it could be automatic or being more useful to you...

(please note: I am really interested in how this could work better for you and not being snarky! Just thought I would make that clear)

Very interesting.  I am not a member of a team, but should that ever occur I will definitely keep twitter in mind!

Hi Scott- I just found your blog. Good stuff.

It's nice to see Twitter getting some love around here.  Us Bay Area geeks have been hooked on it for a few months now and it's starting to look like it's here to stay.

That's an interesting idea you have to use it as a communication tool within teams.  Never thought of using it that way.

To tell you the truth, pretty much every twitterer that I know has SMS turned off.  It gets out of control pretty quickly once you start following more people.

BTW, I'm andykaufman on twitter and I'm always looking to connect with others.

Cool little tool I will have to check it out.  I assume it works the same way as AOL and Yahoo when you forward your IMs to your mobile device.

Andy - you can individually set the sms notifications for each of your friends. I too turn it off for some of my friends who go a little overboard. I use for the ones that I don't mind hearing from. I only use twitter with my close friends and not work so I am not a big one for giving it out (no offense!) but I will stop by your page and say hi!

Linda - it's not exactly the same as IM on a mobile device. think of it more of a mini-blog that can be distributed to cell phones through sms. So it isn't for "talking" so to speak, more over it is for notifying your group of what's up.  It sounds a little strange but can be extremely useful and even more addictive since it is so easy to use.

Great idea - might make working with my team easier.  I'll introduce it to the team.  Thanks.
