While I was fishing on Crosslake Minnesota last weekend this Blue Herring in the photograph (above) was doing some fishing of it's own.

I captured this beautiful bird in flight with a Nikon D-90 with a 135 mm telephoto lens, it was quite a sight to see and for more information on Crosslake Minnesota with it's chain of over 15 different lakes connected with channels please go to this link ...............

City of Crosslake, Minnesota -- Welcome to the City of Crosslake ...

If you look real close at the top left corner of the photo below you can see a blurry (Edina Realty) sign, there are hundreds of Real Estate signs around these chain of lakes in Crosslake Minnesota and very, very little is selling!

There is a blue heron that lives at the lake I walk around.  I have never been able to catch him in flight like this.  When he takes off he is too quick for me!

Hi VB - great shot, I agree with Ann, my heron is always too fast or far away for me -- I haven;t been able to capture on filem ike you did!!  Good job!  Looks like you are having fun in Minnesota!

So that's what that kind of bird is. . .I took a picture of one a few weeks ago over at our park, but didn't post it because I didn't quite know what it was.  However, I think Blue "herrings" are likely fish, this is probably a Blue Heron:-)
