Is your market still stagnant? Or is it you who are the stagnant one? Real estate income is all about contracts. In good times and bad people will move.

What happens more often than not is that we fall prey to our own expectations. In our own neighborhoods, the very ones we are supposed to be the experts in, we are out of sorts. So perhaps the value that the Seller hoped to get is not as high as he thinks he is entitled to. This should not stop you from working.

The best example of this is the new agent who has just come into the market. If they are smart they will shut their ears to all of the stories and comments provided by the older agents around them. STOP DON'T LiSTEN ! It will only bring you down. For the rest of us, look at what these newbies are doing!

Yes they are making money. Why? Simple this is their market reality. They have not been in the crazy times like we have. This is their normal and their normal is the very thing that may be keeping you from making a living.

Maybe there just isn't a big enough market out there for all of us. Perhaps you should consider moving on? So get with it or get out of it!

been doing this since 1978....seen many ways of doing business....while the internet is huge and we need it.....face to face contact will get you the contract....we all need to keep working our trade or we will be out of business....

Thanks Herb for the great advice.  The solution sometimes is that we have too much information and we allow it to paralyze us.  Action is the best key to success.

Dennis,

You are right about the work ethic. However we all must embrace new technologies or face elimination by a Public who will quickly move on to the newest greatest thing.

Hey Jim,

Thanks for stopping by. I liked your top ten list.

You are so right.  I can immediately think of one young, new agent in our office.  He knows no other reality, works consistenly, works hard and is working with clients, showing properties, and yes.....closing some transactions.

Doug,

Thanks for stopping by. When I first got in the business I worked a real job in the day and real estate by night. Six months later I was full time in Real Estate.

It was not till after that first six months that I got a chance to talk with the other agents. They all told me it was a terrible market.

Perhaps it was. The average time on the market was 210 days and the average sales price was $50,000. I of course did not know that the average market should have been under 90 days. I just knew that if I priced it right the Buyer's would come and the product would fly off the shelf.
