Organic and natural products on average do seem to be more expensive compared to other non organic and natural brands. As much as we all care about the environment and the quality of the food we eat, we also have to consider our pocketbooks.

In the last year I have noticed that more supermarkets are starting to introduce their own store brand of organic and natural products, which seem in general to be more competitively priced. Back 10 years ago my mother would of never considered buying store name brands, due to the lower quality stereotype. These days most store brand products are of the same quality as that of well known brands.

Therefore, next time you are debating the price of a organic or natural product over a standard non eco-friendly product, take a few minutes to investigate whether the store offers it own brand. I have also noticed that name brand companies are also starting to offer organic and natural products, and a majority of the time there is not much of a price difference.  Detergents, cleaning products, canned items, dairy, fresh produce are all available. Buying these store brand organic & natural products not only helps save the environment, improves the quality of the food you eat and is kind to your wallet.

It is good many stores are starting to offer Organic and Natural as one of their name brands-this will make it a little bit easier on the wallet.

You have to be careful with the Natural or Organic labels-it is not as it seems always. Do your research, know what the ingredients are and other names for hidden additives. Natural does not mean anything anymore. My husband has been an inspector for fruits and vegetables that enter this country and that are raised here for 26+ years and he has taught me so much. One thing is if a vegetable is PRETTY-it is NOT organic.

Hi Adam ~ Nice to see there is some effort in bringing the prices down. I'd like to eat more organic food, but am not willing to pay double the price for it. I guess I check this out next time I'm at my local supermarket - For some time now I have just assumed the prices aren't going to suit me!

I think many stores are beginning to realize that organic is not a "passing trend".  Here in Hawaii, "local grown" is very popular.  Most are certified organic, a few are not, but eating local and with the seasons makes just good common sense.  Mahalo for sharing.
