AR has had a number of problems with people using copyrighted words or photographs.  Many posts have been written about the topic.

Come on folks!  There are so many reasons not to duplicate the intellectual property of others and I can only think of one or two reasons to steal:  Ignorance?  Stupidity?copyright

I personally use a company called IStockPhoto.  I pay about a buck per image.  Every time I write a post, I go to IStock Photo and type in a phrase related to the article about which I am going to write.  So, today, I did a search for "copyright" and this is one of the images I received.  I had over 1300 choices, by the way.

So it's pretty simple.  Avoid angering the AR people and do the morally correct thing.

Either pay for your images (as I tend to do), or take your own pictures.

Personally, I think it's worth a buck to download a photo, because a good photo draws people into reading your blog.  And if that's not worth a buck...I don't know what is.

I have never posted any photos that weren't mine. I do however use content from a site that allows me to repost their stories. I do not post it as my own though. I suppose I could cheat but don't believe that is ethical and if I dont earn 250 points for sharing useful information than so be it. AR isn't about who has the highest score... Its a place to share and learn and build relationships. If you get a few leads out of it then great! dont cheat. Post items that belong to or is written by you or get permission to post it. Its that simple..and its the right thing to do!

I keep a camera in my car and whenever I see a good shot, I take it.  People can build their own "livraries" this way.

A possible alternative is to ask the originator for permission to use the image.

I love taking photos and so far, my posts either include my own work, are logos (like facebook and twitter) or are my own screenshots. Haven't looked into stock photos, but if I ever need them for a particular blog topic, I'll look it up...thanks! :)
