It's already a done deal.....

How many People actually think that President Obama is going to Denmark to get the Olympics for Chicago is a good thing?

I know one thing he would not be going unless it was a done deal already!Don't kid yourself, he ain't begging, he is bribing. This administration is in such desperate shape for some positive news, that buying the Olympics is a small price to pay for 15 minutes of fame.

Who cares if half the people in Chicago don't want it, this about our image.....

I'd like to think sincerity is Obama's first guide.  I hope Chicago gets the 2016 Olympics and while Chicago doesn't need another 15 minutes, 15 more positve minutes will not hurt our USA.

This is a ploy for attention as you say.... I say, who cares if the Olympics are in the US?

The Olympics are a great thing. Good luck to Chicago. Bring it back to the US.

Frank you are right we could use some positive in the world right now... Gary, I agree to a certain extent... They are more of drain than a help in most cases. With the graft and corruption in Chicago politics, I see a no win deal here....

Politics and the Olympics are not good together.  Just look at what happened in Munich in 1972 and in Sarajevo - where people boycotted the Olympics.  What's next, the President of the US going to Oslo to "pitch" for a US person to win the Nobel prize?

Mr. Obama made many promises to the citizens of the US that he has failed to deliver on.  I think he and his advisers would be well advised to keep Mr. President in the USA where he needs to impress us, not the rest of the world.

Remember Mitt Romney - how he was criticized for his claim to fame by running the SLC Olympic Games?  Fortunately, he ran the games like a business.  I'm not sure that the officials in Chicago - or any US city right now, can afford to implement the structure and security that the games require.  This is not about pouring more money into an already debt-laden system.

Personally, I don't want the Olympic games in the US.  It's not a money maker and quite frankly it's not the role of a government figurehead to "pitch" for his country.  If anyone should be present from the administration - it should be our Secretary of State.  Hillary something or other.

I'm with Nick.  The Olympics are a good thing and not only would it be good for the Obama Administration, but more so, it would be good for the economy.  I'd bet that's why he's pushing for it, more than any other reason.

Terry, over half the people of Chicago don't want the Olympics if it will cost them money. PRESTO! We'll bail them out and  send Chicago stimulus money.
What a great day to be alive!

Currently the city of Chicago is closing government offices several days a week because they are too broke to pay salaries.

50% of the population is opposed to the Olympics.  You have to spend money before you receive any money.  Where will the money come from?

Stimulus for Chicago.  It's the Obama way.

I am once again appalled by the actions of the President.  We have serious issues with Iran, the economy, the health care debacle and much more.

His arrogance astounds me.  We have school children singing "chants and love songs" to the President.  His terrible UN speech.  He continually is apologizing for the past actions of America.

His wife is finally proud to be an American..........really?

And people were afraid to elect an OLD MAN as president, at least he wouldn't have been flying all over the world promoting himself and apologizing for our country.

Change starts at HOME obama, here in the US.

Folks, you elected him, now he is going to do whatever he wants.

Great Job!

Nogui

President Obama has never yet shown any pride for America why should we believe that this latest stunt is anything but another chance to duck the important issues of the day.

Terry - Obama had no intention of going to Copenhagen until Mayor Daley paid him a little visit at the White House. I don't know what was said there, but consider this. If Obama continues as he has for the remainder of his term, he is going to need Daley's patronage army to get out the vote in 2012 - just to carry Illinois. To Nogui - I think the pride of nations lies more in the competition, not so much in the hosting.

Yep. Looks like you missed on this one.

The polls I saw said 30% of those in Chicago didn't want it. Back in the early 1980s, 33% of Los Angelenos didn't want the 1984 Olympics. Try to find those 33% of the people now. They all claim that they went to the Olympics -- LOL.

I totally agree with Melissa's comment: "Change starts at HOME Obama, here in the US." How refreshing that after eight years of King Bush and Prince Cheney, we have, indeed, changed here at home! Yahooooooooooooooooooo!
