Differences Push Our Hot Buttons With Our Comfort Zones

By
Real Estate Agent with Keller Williams Realty 0575737

BoatSo often I hear associates and customers say they can't stand someone, their personality or behavior. Hello? There are six billion plus people out there. The flip side they say is that variety is the spice of life. I think what it really is, is

Differences Push Our Hot Buttons With Our Comfort Zones.

Especially with family and friends we crave that birds of a feather comfort zone.

We want to CHANGE people to be like us. A more healthy approach would be to encourage and inspire others to be their BEST SELVES. We all have gifts, just not the same ones. Enjoy other people for whom they were created to be.

I am fortunate in the way that I learned a long time ago to just accept people for who they are rather than who I thought they should be. This keeps me from getting frustrated with very many people, but once and a while I have to admit that I do.

Hi Gary:

Very well said.

Being different is a good thing...we can all learn from that, rather than stay in your comfort zone and learn nothing.

The flip side of the coin....not everyone likes us either.  That is just the nature of it all.

Most of my friends are not like me at all, and I like it that way --- it makes life more interesting.  One of my favorite things about real estate is the wide variety of people we meet.

Gary - I think variety is the spice of life and what actually makes people interesting is that they are different.

Hi Gary...I'm so grateful that Jim is quite different.  If he was like me, I'd never get a word in edgewise.  As  it is, I do most of the talking and he does most of the "listening" (I think).

Hi Gary.  Of course everyone can't be like me, then the entire world would be dusty and disorganized!  I took a course long ago that got you to try to accept people as they are and most importantly, as they aren't.

Gary - I have friends with different personalities.  If someone if different - just don't let them push your buttons - you can choose not to react to them.

Hi Gary, A timely message. I was just thinking about this topic a couple hours ago. And while yes, you are so 100% correct and we all need to accept the differences and ecourage the best in ourselves as well as others. You know there is a but there right, OK then, enough said.

Gary, great reminder, I find myself being a little to judgemental from time to time about people's differences instead of celebrating them and thinking of how boring it would be if everyone were like me!

Hi Gary,

Oh your message is so true. The different personalities is what makes for interesting relationships. We all learn from others and if keep an open mind can even learn something!

Gary:  Yes, appreciating our differences can be a very rewarding thing.  Sadly, too many in the world are happy to exploit our differences and get that anger bubbling.  All you need to do is watch political shows.  I really think when it comes to politics, that our two party system is content to get the voters having a mental battle between right and wrong, good and evil, etc. while all the elected officials continue to buddy around and cash in on their political power.  We're so busy fighting with each other we don't notice.

Gary:  Differences between most peopel aren't what really hangs me up, but behaviors.  I draw the line with some behaviors.  But putting that aside, I know I can be judgmental and critical at times but that's just because I am always right!!!  LOL

I think we should all look at the positive sides of people we do not particularly care for. There is always something to like about a person. OK, maybe not Dick Cheney.

I have to concur with Chris Ann on this one. I love spices, but some , like politiciansd, exploit things by throwing in a little too much jalapeno !
